Lifting Families Up: The Power of Partnership in Clackamas County

Parrott Creek, along with several Safe Kids Coalition members, partnered with the County to help put to best use some of the remaining American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds that the federal government had given to Clackamas County to help vulnerable families disproportionately affected by all of the health, social and economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic. Below is a beautiful letter Parrott Creek received from one of the families they helped.

Dear Parrot Creek & Partners,

I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the generous $500 grant provided to me. As a currently pregnant single mother with a 15-month-old child, your support has been a beacon of hope during one of the most challenging times in my life.

Coming out of an abusive relationship with my children's father and embarking on my journey to sobriety has been filled with numerous struggles and hardships. However, making the decision to become sober has undoubtedly been the best choice for both my children and me. The strength, courage, and resources provided by Parrott Creek Outpatient Treatment Program have been instrumental in helping me continue on this path.

The grant allowed me to purchase essential items that I otherwise could not have afforded. The maternity clothes you provided have been a tremendous help, especially since I am living off state assistance and my income alone could not cover these necessities. Additionally, the clothes for my children have been a true blessing. Knowing that I can pass these down as they grow is a gift that will keep giving. The diapers and wipes you supplied have also given us a solid start with the necessary supplies for both of my children.

I feel incredibly blessed and grateful for the support and funding from Parrott Creek and its partners. Your assistance has eased many of my worries about providing for my growing family, and I am sincerely thankful to the grant providers and all the partners and staff at Parrott Creek. Your dedication to helping those in need on their journey to sobriety and resilience is truly commendable. We all need a little help along the way, and your program has been a lifeline for me and my children and our future.

Thank you once again for your generosity and unwavering support.

 With sincere gratitude,

K, R&R
